Herrinfesta Italiana is a celebration of the heritage of Herrin, with a spring festival providing a sense of community spirit, as well as a homecoming for former residents and a welcome to travelers from all over the Midwest. With carnival rides and activities for the kids, contests such as a bocce tournament, bigga nose contest, grape stomp and a pasta eating contest, and to top it off great food, Herrin Festa offers something for every age.
This spring festival claims the title of the “World’s Biggest Fish Fry”.
This summer, tour Loretta’s Plantation Home and museums, shop the western store or gift shop and spend the night in the RV Park or cabins. Loretta Lynn's Ranch has great activities for the family including horseback riding, concerts and motocross racing.
Celebrating all around town every July! The Wilson stage, overlooking the Ohio River, provides the perfect setting for top-name entertainment. The festival explodes with other activities including Cross River Swim, Hot Air Balloon Glo and Lift Offs, Sidewalk Chalk Contest, Big Wheel Races, Fireworks, and more.
With over 40 hot air balloons, Centralia Balloon Fest is a great place to sit back and enjoy the view each August. The balloon fest is not limited to hot air balloons, you will also be able to watch fireworks, shop their craft fair, stroll through their car show, enjoy the cardboard boat races, and it even includes a children’s activity area for the kids.
For over 50 years the Sikeston Jaycees have brought you the Sikeston Bootheel Rodeo each August. The Rodeo will include bareback, bull riding, tie down, roping, barrel racing and much more. The excitement only builds when the star studded entertainers take the stage.
This Labor Day weekend, come enjoy the sites and sounds of the Du Quoin State Fair. From harness racing, auto racing, tractor pulls, and demolition derby to the star studded concerts held at the Grand Stand. The DuQuoin State Fair is home to the “Premier” Home Show in the State, as well as livestock events and an Agriculture Exposition you should not miss.

Starting as a customer appreciation party, Mid America Motorwork’s funfest a weekend each September has turned into a gathering of Corvette enthusiasts. With more than 15,000 Corvettes and over 45,000 Corvette lovers, Funfest is a great time for all. Held in early September, the Cedarhurst Craft Fair not only houses some of the area’s best crafts, but also will have some great entertainment by both regional and national bands, children’s area with games and crafts, and some tasty treats including such things as BBQ sandwiches, homemade ice cream and fruit pies.
